Vice President, Human Resources: Star One Credit Union
POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all Human Resources and Training and Development functions of Star One. As a member of the Executive Management team, participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives of the Credit Union. Serves as a resource and provides leadership in establishing and implementing objectives, policies, and programs throughout the company. Ensures that business activities are conducted in accordance with established Star One objectives, policies and governmental regulations. Acts as a member of the Board Administrative Committee and presents reports to the Board Compensation Committee.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES · Responsible for the development and implementation of effective HR strategic planning, in line with Star One Business Plan goals and objectives. · Responsible for the effective performance of HR functions including staffing, benefits, compensation, employee relations, Credit Union-wide training and organizational development, HR data and record keeping. · Oversee the training and development function. Responsible for improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of all staff through identification and design of optimal training and development programs. · Provide advisory support and services to all Star One management and staff. · Direct, manage, coach, counsel and discipline HR functional staff as necessary. Conduct annual performance evaluations of HR and Training and Development managers. · Ensure training and development of HR staff to enhance and maintain skills and knowledge. · Participate as a member of the Executive Management team and Board Administrative and Compensation Committees. · Develop and recommend changes to policies and programs to the Board of Directors. Communicate, execute and ensure the implementation of approved policies and programs. · Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, filing requirements imposed by government and other third parties, and Credit Union policies and procedures. · Develop and monitor HR Department budget and expenses, in line with business plan. · Represent Star One with various trade professionals and groups, maintaining the Credit Union’s professional reputation. · Involvement with development and delivery of Executive Staff compensation, and succession planning. · Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 8 to 10 years of applicable experience, including at least 5 years of management responsibilities. Financial institution experience is preferred. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
