Bioprocess Development Scientist/Senior Scientist: Fusion408

Position Description:
Our company is currently seeking a one of a kind individual who will be responsible for developing the latest and most innovative fermentation technology that deals directly with the microbial conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into biofuel using anaerobic bacteria. He or she will serve as a member of our Bioprocessing team, and be the leader in developing, scaling-up, and transferring the bioprocess technology from bench sale to commercial-scale biobutanol biorefineries. We need a hands-on employee that is willing to work will many different groups of people to process parameters, evaluate strains, and develop methods that will be used to maximize the overall production of the fermentation process. Our next bioprocess development scientist will be an expert in the physiology and growth of gram-positive anaerobic microorganisms, preferably solventogenic clostridia, and/or be extremely knowledgeable in how multiphase biological reactors operate.
Our perfect candidate will be passionate, creative, motivated, and be able to communicate well with other. He or she must also be a quick leaner, independent worker, and have the ability to accomplish all objectives that need to be accomplished.

Duties & Responsibilities:
-Implementation & Design of the latest mechanical solutions that are directly related to applications of process engineering and the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to biobutanol -Creation, preparation, completion & analysis of microbial fermentations that use the latest technology -Discover and be leader in the execution of our newest operating systems & procedures that are being used in the increase of bioprocess development experiments -Develop methods, interpret literature, apply design experiments, and present your work and written reports effectively

Requirements & Qualifications:
-PhD in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Microbial Physiology, or a related program -At least five years of experience in conducting and planning system developmet in a research of industrial environment -Be knowledgeable in practice & theory behind the practice of using multiphase reactors, & batch, fed-batch vs. continuous fermentation operations -Experience and thorough knowledge of the design, operation, & analysis of bioreactors, along with other bioprocessing equipment, instrumentation & process control -Knowledge of the proper maintance and use of anaerobic equipment -Strong problem solving abilities while working independently or with a team -Outstanding oral and written communication skills -Good team work skills -Desire to use numerical analysis and have a high level of scientific initiativee -Organized and Analytical -Practices safety and good laboratory practice, while paying close attention to detail -Able to work in a fast-paced environment
