Currently, we have an excellent career opportunity available for a Safety Specialist in the New York area. This position requires one to work from a home based office and is considered a remote position. In addition to the New York area, the position does require some travel throughout the east. This position supports all underwriting departments relative to the corporate goals of profit and growth. This requires fostering good relationships with all departments, producers and insureds.
Primary Responsibilities : The Safety Specialist conducts prospective and insured risk assessment surveys for underwriting and provides risk consulting advice to CPG’s clients. Conducts on-site safety surveys, assisting clients in compliance with safety standards. Coordinates safety services requirements with underwriters and submits reports of findings. Prepares comprehensive reports to identify hazards and potential loss producing exposures including a thorough evaluation of controls in place or required. Provides safety training for insured, provides assistance in development of hazard specific, and makes recommendations for updates to client Safety and Security Program manual. Builds and maintains productive relationships with clients, underwriting and service teams, broker/agent community, claim department and other staff. Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of regulatory, environment and emerging safety issues.
Essential Skills and Knowledge : Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or 10+ years experience in insurance company loss control and/or construction industry safety. If bachelor’s degree, then 5+ years experience in insurance company loss control and/or construction industry safety management - ideal candidate will have both. Background should include project management experience with a construction firm or broker/insurance experience with a major construction insurance market. CHST and/or CSP is preferred. Experienced in producing work on a personal computer; proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Additional requirements include a driving record and valid driver’s license that would allow for driving on Company business, including overnight travel within and outside of assigned region.
