IT Operations and Deployment Manager

The IT Operations and Deployment Manager sets the direction and strategy for the Environment Management and Application Support organization and has ultimate accountability for its deliverables, operational processes and staff. Specific functions within the IT organization that the Manager oversees includes application support, systems administration, integration, change management, availability management, and IT operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the application support team of Tier II and Tier III application analysts to perform incident and problem management for the Development, QA, and Production Application Environments.
  • Manage Outage Bridge for any Production Application outages.
  • Manage a set of IT metrics to measure against key performance indicators defined both internally and according to industry best practice.
  • Fully understand and comprehend requirements of the business units and incorporate into IT roadmap. Treat the IT Environment Management and Application Support function as a business and as a service provider to the larger organization.
  • Develop and deploy IT roadmap and ensure that strategy and deployment are tied to business objectives, programs and supported by detailed implementation and resource plans and that dependencies are clearly identified. Ensure that overall IT strategy and plans are based on a scalable IT operational and staffing model and account for the appropriate level of growth expected by the business units.
  • Manage and provide leadership direction to staff. Coach team members on how to be more effective resources and make sound decisions. Set expectations and priorities for the staff.
  • Drive effectiveness across the IT organization and cross-functionally. Create a high level of employee engagement.
  • Oversee the development of IT policies and procedures. Lead the development of technology strategies and infrastructure design;
  • Meet regularly with key internal customers to understand their needs relating to IT systems and services. Evaluate customer requests and set priorities around those that can be addressed immediately versus at a later time. Set clear expectations as to how IT support will be provided and what services will be delivered;
  • Handle and effectively resolve technical escalations that arise. Facilitate discussions that result in solutions which not only satisfy the customer but are also effective for the business.
  • Drive new projects/changes to successful implementation.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience working in IT Operations, with at least 5 of those years in a management level role providing leadership to a global organization consisting of multiple levels
  • Minimum of 5 years IT Production Application Support Management experience in a Java-based application framework.
  • Technical understanding of both the J2EE and LAMP architecture frameworks.
  • A consistent record of successfully recruiting, motivating and retaining top talent
  • Experience in effectively managing employee performance and coaching
  • Documented prior experience at managing change throughout an organization, including implementation of new systems, processes and tools
  • Key understanding of how to engage and manage stakeholders and customers
  • Superior planning and organization skills including 2 – 5 years of project management expertise.
  • Experience at developing forecasts and organizational plans.


Educational Requirements:

A four year undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. An advanced degree such as a Masters in Business Administration is a plus

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • ITIL v3
  • PMP preferred
  • Information Security Certification a plus
