We are looking to add a Linux Administrator to our current Operations/Infrastructure team. We have a plethora of Linux servers, mostly Centos but also Red Hat and Gentoo. If you have at least 5 years hands-on experience in Linux administration and love Linux come work for us!

This is a hands-on position with the following MUST haves:

  • 5+ years Linux Administration experience.
  • Experience with CFEngine or other Linux automated management tools (like Puppet for example).
  • Experience with monitoring software such as Nagios, Ganglia, etc.
  • Some scripting experience expected (we use Bash, Perl, Ruby).
  • Experience installing and configuring: Apache, iptables, sendmail, BIND (dns), SSH, VPN, etc.
  • Experienced working with Open Source software.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 environment, IE: after hour and weekend oncall rotation.
  • Some network hardware/software experience.
  • Troubleshooting skills for OS, network, and infrastructure apps (apache, mail, etc).

The following are definitely pluses.

  • Network experience with hardware/software load balancers, firewalls, switches, network security, and network topology.
  • Experienced in capacity planning and tuning.
  • Familiarity with databases.
  • Linux kernel
  • Good knowledge of Apache
  • Mobile technology
  • Amazon AWS or other “Cloud” computing.

Your functions in this role include but are not limited to:

  • Daily monitoring of numerous systems (bandwidth, disk usage, CPU, etc).
  • Responding to issues that may arise on systems or preemptively preventing issues from occurring.
  • Make decisions on capacity planning and implement them.
  • Maintaining system state with CF Engine management software.
    • Updating/adding ssh keys and user access.
    • Maintaining Linux packages, OS configs, and application configs.
    • Deploying updates, fixes, or other system related items.
  • 24/7 support with other Operations team members for all production systems.
  • Bring up new systems and applications as required by business.
