| | Aircraft Welder | Minimum Requirements : High School diploma or equivalent. A minimum of three (3) years of full time verifiable and related experience is required. A certificate in "Airforce Welding" is preferred.
The position requires skill in MIG, TIG, stick and pipe welding. Must have knowledge of the use of both acetylene and electrical welding equipment, welding standards and trade procedures, processes and techniques. Skill must be demonstrated in making welds that require complete penetration as well as complete fusion of base and filler metals when welding in hard to reach places. Must have the ability to use hand and power tools and related types of equipment peculiar to the trade. Must have the ability to read and follow schematics, blueprints and other specifications. Welding certification required. Must qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and possess a current State issued driver's license. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Job Description : Welds, heat treats, and fabricates components and assemblies for aerospace systems and related support equipment. Performs welding calculations such as determing welding processes and preheat and post heat requirements. Welds, brazes, solders, anneals, normalizes, and tempers metals. Checks completed components and determins serviceability in accordance with drawings and specifications. Disassembles, assembles, and fits component parts using welding techniques. Performs operator maintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools. Uses and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards.
