System Administrator - Full Time



Primary Responsibilities

SGS Testcom, Inc. is currently looking for a full time System Adminstrator in its Ballston Spa, New York office.

Reporting to

National VID IT Operations Manager

Specific responsibilities

1. Analyze, diagnose and correct problems related to the hardware and software assets of the company.
2. Analyze and recommend both hardware and software requirements for existing and future programs or initiatives of the company.
3. Analyzes complex data using a variety of systems administration tools, and prepare reports on system performance, availability and other statistics as identified by management.
4. Manages the installations, configuration, operation, backup, recovery and general maintenance of servers, storage, workstations and related infrastructure for the company.
5. Develops, reports upon, and manages systems security, including mitigation of issues.
6. Documents installation and maintenance of software, devices, and end-user devices.
7. Manages user account provisioning, maintenance and monitoring.
8. Maintains and repairs computer equipment and associated peripherals of the company.
9. Monitors system activity using specialized hardware and software to ensure maximum efficiency and minimum down time. Resolves performance issues or outage conditions.
10. Provides technical support (product recommendation and configuration).
11. Resolves end user and/or customer workstation and software problems as related to company hardware or software.
12. Continuously endeavor to learn and improve upon IT related skills via self study, self discovery and/or company sponsored training.

Profile

-Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related Engineering field from a nationally accredited 4 year college or university is required.

Skills

-A minimum of 4 years experience in administering computer network, voice communication and general device connectivity is required.
-Must be proficient in one or more Unix operating system variants (AIX, HPUX, Solaris, Linux)
-Must be proficient in configuration of Unix Services (ntp, dns, mail, etc.)
-Must be proficient in configuration of Unix Security (iptables, user accounts, encryption, etc.)
-Must be proficient in configuration of disk storage subsystems.
-Must be proficient in one or more Unix scripting languages (ksh, csh, tcl, perl, etc.)
