Sr. Manager, Program/Project Management: Cepheid

Sr. Manager, Project/Program Manager will assist in the planning and execution of product development projects while adhering to budget, scope and schedule requirements. Helps ensure consistent practices throughout all phases of the project life cycle. Prepares/edits reports, summaries, presentations and quantitative analyses. Executes high quality, integrated cross-functional plans for projects. Applies best practices in the development, initiation, planning, execution, control and closing of projects. Interacts with research and development, marketing, manufacturing and regulatory departments.

In this position, you will be responsible for project management of product development of an in vitro diagnostic assay. Responsible for overseeing project and maximizing project resources. Assist in analyzing current project operations and make recommendations for improvement. Facilitate information flow between team members, the project technical leader, senior management and the corporate client. Responsible for establishing and developing cross-functional teams to support research and development process and identify optimal opportunities for product. Manage risks and project issues, communicating and escalating status to the project, executive, and product steering committee teams. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints.

• Must have demonstrated ability to act as a project manager for a cross functional team (marketing, engineering, biotechnology, manufacturing, QA) in a fast paced technical environment
• Experience in managing projects in a FDA or ISO 9001 compliant setting (preferably medical devices)
• Experience with both US and international markets and a proven ability to successfully transfer products from R&D through manufacturing to commercialization.
• The successful candidate must be able to operate independently of supervision, handle multiple projects in parallel, and communicate effectively both within the organization and with collaborators and contractors on the outside.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multifunctional, multinational teams and excellent interpersonal skills is needed.
• Excellent analytical skills, with an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way are critical.
• Demonstrated ability to attend to detail and perform multiple complex tasks and the ability to prioritize workload and perform effectively with minimal supervision is essential.
• Effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas to influence appropriate outcome. Anticipates issues and takes action to mitigate their impact.
• Problem solving and decision making experience in a formal project management system required.
• Candidate must have a BS degree with at least 10 years industrial experience. Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and oral, required.
• Must be facile with project management software.
