Retail Accessory Buyer: RowNIne

Job Description:

A new luxury shopping site located in Silicon Valley is seeking an experienced luxury accessory buyer. The perfect candidate should have deep product knowledge and brand contacts in the luxury accessory market. The candidate will operate in a fast paced start up environment that requires a real self starter who is motivated to attack the challenges of a small company. The buying works closely with our product management, web design, marketing and management teams to maximize sales through promotion, product selection and merchandising.

Responsibilities:

• Buying responsibility and financial accountability for respective buying category
• Conduct buying trips on a regular basis
• Negotiate buying terms with vendors (price, quantity, delivery terms, and markdown $)
• Manage inventory levels in partnership with finance team
• Present new category recommendations regularly to senior management
• Help create financial plan for the vendor
• Keep abreast of industry trends and new product ideas
• Build strong relationships with brands and other vendors
• Recruit, motivate, and develop other members of the merchandising team

Requirements:

• 5+ years’ buying experience
• Strong understanding of merchandising financials and the ability to manage profitability
• Deep knowledge of Open-to-Buy process
• Experience in buying luxury accessories

• Deep rolodex of brand contacts
• Ability to analyze reports and draw conclusions/recommendations
• Ability to remain flexible and willing to change strategies, as business needs dictate
• Ability to lead teams effectively and create an exciting workplace
