Director of Sales

The Director will be responsible for the sourcing, promoting , & closing of sales with clients in the USA for this amazing Solar Company. Play a pivotal role by leading sales presentations to stakeholders, and senior management. This companies clients include primarily with large energy consumers - commercial, industrial, municipal, even military etc. - but will also require some support of sales to utilities. The Director will be responsible for developing & maintaining strong relationships with key customers, as many relationships will involve sequential repeat sales over a number of years. The Director of Sales will drive sales activity for the US, with a focus on Southwest US and specifically Southeast California. This is a very exciting and rewarding role in the solar energy world.

Customer / Vendor:
· Will report to the VP Sales, and work closely with the rest of the sales team. Will work intimately with the Marketing department to ensure proper pricing and other approved supply terms;
· Will work closely with field ops and other groups to ensure successful project transition and execution

Duties:
· Direct sourcing and generation of leads. Will complement other sales and marketing efforts to generate leads. It is expected that the ideal Director will be bringing an extensive, relevant network of customer leads.
· Build and maintain key relationships with customers, including advancing multi-sales opportunities with government or corporate entities up to the corporate level for further management or transition.
· Solicit, record and transfer customer data and other market data back to the sales and marketing teams, and participate in the advancement of understanding and targeting customers.
· Set a personal example of the highest ethical conduct. Implement and embrace the company's values. Employ effective interpersonal and communication skills that encourage and guide colleagues and advance teamwork.

Qualifications:
· Sophisticated understanding of the "sell" cycle for institutional sales channels. Extensive senior relationships in the target region, including with for example municipalities, commercial/industrial enterprises, military bases, developers, etc.
· Advanced engineering degree a plus.
· 5-15+ years sales experience
· Sales experience with complex, big ticket products or services, ideally including industrial equipment sales and particularly CHP or other distributed energy systems.
· Experience of the solar market / energy market beneficial
