Sr. Accountant: Express Employment Professionals Houston
We are a leading international provider of software products and consulting services to the oil and gas industry, and we are seeking to employ a Sr. Accountant who will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial reporting for our Houston-based subsidiary. The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that there are adequate financial controls including compliance with applicable accounting and tax regulations. The Sr. Accountant reports directly to the local Regional Sr. VP and functionally to the Chief Financial Officer.
The Sr. Accountant is an individual contributor role, and the incumbent is responsible for reporting accurate financial information in accordance with group reporting timetables and policies. The following accounting and financial tasks will normally fall within the scope responsibilities. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
On an on-going basis: Ensure the implementation and compliance with proper internal controls covering the following areas: Sales invoicing and collection of accounts receivables Purchase and invoice approval routines, including compliance with the approval guidelines or proxies Cash management, including payment authorization Security and control over assets (incl. Fixed assets & inventory). Ensure that all financial controls are accurately documented in the financial control review checklist Control over cash requirements/surpluses Post journal entries to general ledger and maintain chart of accounts Follow up of the ageing and collection of accounts receivable and provision for bad debts Control over project work in progress, including income recognition and cost accruals Custody and accounting control over fixed assets Confirmation of inter-company balances on a monthly basis Communication with and timely/accurate reporting to the local public authorities (for example, vat and payroll returns, annual company tax returns, local statutory financial statements) Communication with the local auditors Close cooperation with Corporate Finance Department in Europe
On a monthly basis: Completion of the monthly financial closing and the reporting package, including the reconciliation of key accounts
On a quarterly/annual basis: Prepare the information required by the local auditors in connection with their annual audits Prepare the local company local financial statements and company tax returns (in agreement with the CFO and the local auditors) Assist the local Regional SVP and local subsidiary organization in the completion of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, if appropriate.
Qualifications/Requirements Min Bachelor degree or similar in Business Economics or Financial Accounting Relevant working experience in a engineering environment Thorough understanding of accounting policies, principles and taxation Experience in budgeting, risk management, compliance etc Proven ability to handle multiple issues, projects, tasks with high attention to details Working experience in an internationally-oriented job Previous experience in the Oil and Gas industry is considered a must Navision software experience a plus Must have valid passport and be able to travel internationally
