We are currently seeking a talented Property Field Adjuster for our Baltimore/Annapolis, MD territory.

As a Property Field Adjuster, for USAA you will serve as a field member contact representative for USAA. You will investigate, evaluate and resolve property claims, in accordance with terms and conditions of policy contracts and existing insurance laws and regulations. May provide guidance, training and direction to less experienced adjusters and support Catastrophe Operations as needed.

Job Duties:

  • Conducts initial evaluation, investigation and documentation to establish damages, and determine appropriate payment under the terms of the applicable insurance policy. Posts appropriate reserves, pays, declines, and negotiates claims, based on results of first and third party investigations. Ensures fair claims practices in accordance with policy and legal requirements.
  • Assists in risk management process by providing feedback to the appropriate underwriting representative including, but not limited to, risk site visits on insure to value (ITV) issues. Assists in providing appropriate response to inter-company arbitration.
  • Assists claim investigative staff and local/state/federal law enforcement agencies in investigating alleged or suspected cases of fraud. May be called upon to testify in civil/criminal proceedings as a subject matter expert.
  • Performs re-inspections of property direct repair program (PDRP) Contractors and Independent Adjusters as required. May serve as a coach and mentor for PDRP contractors as requested.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of relevant property claims adjusting experience or 12 months as an Assoc Property Field Adjuster.
  • Computer literate in a Windows operating environment.
  • Must meet all USAA safety driving requirements.
  • Driving record will be verified through MVR.
  • Acquisition and maintenance of adjuster's license as appropriate.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to traverse ladders and roofs.

Preferred:

  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Current Delaware adjuster's license
  • Self starter and able to work independently.
  • Ability to travel to a loss site on short notice.
  • Strong working knowledge in the Xactimate estimating system and MicroSoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to be deployed on catastrophe duty.
  • Ability to work weekends if needed.
