Duties include preparing design drawings, conducting field tests to evaluate or verify the proper implementation or modification of machinery, and equipment, and systems to design specifications. Evaluates performance and validates safe and efficient operation of plant equipment which requires periodic entry into chemical exclusion areas and processes. Also researches materials or equipment specification as needed and may assist with administrative duties necessary to close out various engineering documents.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: LEVEL N5 1. Performs a combination of more simple and routine tasks necessary to assist engineers in completing designs, installations, and/or modifications. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: - Donning personal protective equipment and entering the chemical exclusion area including toxic areas, to evaluate performance of plant equipment. - Gathering and compiling engineering data from data tests sheets, drawings, specifications, field notes, previous operational failures and modifications, or other documentation. - Reviewing and following specific layout and design diagrams to construct and package simple devices or sub-units of a system. Performing standard tests on equipment or systems to determine feasibility and adherence to design specifications. Also maintains responsibility for troubleshooting and correcting basic operating or equipment failures during field tests, recording observed status or deficiencies, and reporting such malfunctions or inequities to upper level technicians or engineers. - Assisting in design and modification activities by compiling data related to designs, specifications, and materials which are pertinent to specific items or system equipment and using basic technical knowledge to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data.
2. Performs a combination of administrative duties necessary to assist engineers in efficiently developing and finalizing technical documentation relating to engineering tasks.
3. Reviews proposed equipment or systems tests to ensure that test proposals comply with established requirements, regulations, and procedures.
4. Supports the TOCDF safety culture by performing all duties in accordance with the below listed safety responsibilities and enforcing a safe work environment.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
LEVEL N6 1. Performs a combination both N5 duties and more non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity, using operational precedents which are not fully applicable. Duties are designed to assist engineers in completing designs, installations, and/or modifications. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: - Donning personal protective equipment and entering the chemical exclusion area including toxic areas, to evaluate performance of plant equipment. - Gathering and compiling a variety of engineering data from data tests sheets, drawings, specifications, field notes, or other documentation and developing or reviewing designs. - Applying conventional engineering practices to develop, prepare, or recommend schematics, designs, specifications, drawings, and parts/components lists. Examples of designs may include detailed circuit or systems diagrams, conventional piping systems, and systems layouts. - Conducting tests or experiments on systems designs or functional requirements. Such duties require selection and adaptation/modification of a wide variety of critical tests, equipment, systems, and procedures. - Measuring and recording problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level and analyzing related data for resolution or reports as required.
