Exciting opportunity for experienced RN to serve as Assistant Nurse Manager on the Ortho Unit at KH. Will work primarily nights. Must have strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Prefer exp in speciality.


The Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for shift operations including: supervising staff and directing activities, services and care for a department(s) within the nursing division of WellStar. The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsibile for developing and implementing standards of practice using his/her expanded educational knowledge, clinical expertise and experience to interpret system and department policies and procedures, ensure quality patient care and ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for monitoring and maintaining sound financial performance, human resources management, materials and supplies management, patient/customer satisfaction and appropriate reporting. The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for coordinating department functions with the operations of other hospital departments to maximize patient flow and interdepartmental efficiency. The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as chief retention officer for his/her assigned staff and has discretion to engage in decisionmaking which has a substantial impact on the employment terms and working conditions of other employees. Based on expanded educational knowledge, clinical expertise and experience, he/she is responsible for the safe delivery of care that adjusts to needs of the patient while considering population, age and cultural diversity. These competent nursing care practices address the biological, developmental, psychosocial, cultural and clinical needs of the patient, family member or support system. The Assistant Nurse Manager contributes to the strategic planning process by leading operations to fulfill the mission, vision and strategic goals. He/she is responsible for employee development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice supported by the Shared Governance Model.


Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Georgia license required. .

Required Minimum Experience: Strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking decision-making skills and ability to exercise independent judgement and analysis. Ability to direct and supervise other employees. Communicates effectively both orally and in written form with all levels of internal external resources.

Required Minimum Skills: A minimum of 2 years of nursing practice that includes sufficient clinical and leadership experience to ensure competence. Certificafication preferred.
