Job Description
Siemens Oil and Gas Solutions is seeking a Materials Logistics Specialist to work within a Project Management and Engineering team, in the execution of a large Electrical and Automation project. The position is in Houston, TX, and will require working in a dynamic and team oriented office environment.
Specific Responsibilities: Guides the monitoring of engineered materials through the production cycle, from the producing factories to the final delivery locations. Develops and maintains reports; analyzes supplier capability; develops studies and cost analyses; minimizes the total inventory and temporary storage costs; analyzes and verifies supplier risk and mitigation strategies; resolves supplier problems in partnership with engineering and procurement representatives.
In cooperation with the Project Manager: Develops information for integrated project plans and schedules for the project supply and engineering team; implementing short and long-range inventory and logistics strategies; communicates to the master scheduler. Completes the effectiveness evaluation of current material control standards, communicates the results and develops logistical operating plans. Develops planning and coordination when reacting to new supplier problems, assessing the impact and supporting any changes to overall delivery schedules. Performs research, evaluates and recommends solutions to inventory issues; negotiates issues related to materials and logistics.
Key Responsibilities: Performs advanced areas of work for the Materials Logistics field. Applies advanced skills to independently resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices. This position is required to display a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and cross-discipline problems. Work as a team player to keep other members informed of procedures and deadlines.
