Controller: Desierto Verde
Desierto Verde has been providing an inclusive portfolio of site development and innovative tree salvage services to developers, landscape contractors and homebuilders throughout the southwestern United States since 1980. We are currently seeking a Controller at our Scottsdale, AZ office. We're looking for a team player with leadership skills to maintain and enhance the Accounting dept.
This hands-on position is in a casual work environment, and presents opportunity to significantly impact a 10 million dollar revenue plus, growing company. We offer a great benefit package and a competitive salary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
v Financial Reporting - All aspects of financial reporting, including monthly and yearly internal and external financial statements and prepare year end schedules for Auditors - Designing financial statements for management’s use - Manage Billing and/or Accounting department
v Financial Analysis - Preparing financial budgets, cash flow and other models - Development and monitoring of key financial benchmarks for management - Analysis of financial statements and other operating data to determine trends and related actions - Division profitability analysis - Job Costing - Coordinating Forecasting
v Corporate Financing - Handling all corporate financing matters regarding senior and other debt lender and equity fund matters including bank compliance certificates, covenants, and tax matters - Managing cash flow - Evaluating customer credit
v Operations - Improving and monitoring internal controls - Maintain and evaluate employee benefits including 401(k) plan - Responsible for information system processing and requirements - Responsible for Construction In Progress monthly reporting - Evaluating all business risk insurance needs - Progress Billing
v Profit Improvement - Controlling operating costs - Recognition of tax issues related to certain transactions - Price analysis for each division - Reducing and controlling the COGS - Monitoring and Improving contract profitability
v Long-Range View - Complete special projects and analysis as requested by owners and management - Using financial information to advise President for future decisions and opportunities - Prepare long-range financial plan for President review
v Computer - Maintain ownership of accounting systems - Coordinate upgrades, implementations, conversions
Skills/Requirements: BS/BA degree in accounting from an accredited university Construction Background, CPA License (active) MAS 90 Expertise Working knowledge of MS office products, excel, etc Analytical and problem solving skills Strong leadership skills and excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work under pressure
