Senior Vice President of Sales

The Senior Vice President of Sales will work with Line of Business (LOB) Managers to develop long range objectives for each line of business including details for meeting those objectives.

The Senior Vice President of Sales is a seasoned executive who understands sales management and profit and loss with a proven record of success in marketing insurance products through agent relationships. This position will act as the liaison between Line of Business Vice Presidents and the company President and CEO and will also mentor LOB Vice Presidents to foster an environment of energy, innovation and strategic thinking that will promote improved performance and results.


Responsibilities include:

  • Corporate planning
  • Developing and implementing new products and monitoring the performance of existing products
  • Market Research
  • Work with LOB VP's to develop a strategic business plan (sales results, marketing, communication, education, employee development, staffing, etc.) that supports the achievement of the company's overall business plan.
  • Generate profitable growth
  • Hold LOB VP's accountable for achieving business objectives, provide ongoing performance feedback, and prepare performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for overseeing expenses for the all lines of business, review and approve expenses for LOB VP's.

Knowledge and skills:

  • General marketing skills: strategy, planning and control
  • Basic understanding of life insurance accounting and statistics
  • Project management experience

The primary objectives of this position are to generate profitable growth as well as comprehend the overall corporate sales strategy and effectively develop and implement a strategic business plan to meet those objectives. Provide leadership and development to all Line of Business Vice Presidents and reconcile competing LOB demands for shared corporate resources. The VP must maintain strong business relationships and through leadership, gain alignment and momentum to increase premium and profit on all lines of business. This position reports directly to the President and CEO.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least 15 years of previous sales management experience in the insurance industry.
  • Proven track record for developing, executing, managing and achieving sales plans.
  • General knowledge of varied products and markets.
  • Significant P&L experience including identifying growth opportunities and building the business.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding sales, marketing and relationship building skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree, required.
  • Travel is required.
