Purpose: o To analyze, design, initiate, and oversee sponsorship marketing strategies for assigned client(s) o This includes the overall investigating of opportunities, evaluating them for fit with client/brand objectives, negotiating best terms on behalf of the client, managing day-to-day execution, and providing follow-up analysis of instituted programs o Also involved in the development of new business pitch presentations as needed, and the production of Optimum Sports credentials and portfolios o Ability to identify new business candidates/opportunities and be proactive in this area is a plus
Duties and Essential Functions: o The Account Manager reports directly to the Midwest Director o Serves as the direct line of communication with clients on both media and sponsorship levels o Develop broad understanding of clients' businesses and needs o Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate sponsorship and media packages as they relate to overall client business strategies and/or client sports sponsorship assets o Proactive in identifying new projects and business opportunities with existing clients o Works in direct cooperation with, and handles all strategy for, respective strategy teams o Interacts with members of other SBU's as the respective disciplines of those SBU's are pertinent to proposed and executed sponsorship marketing strategies o Is direct contact for other Omnicom sports marketing and creative agencies involved on the spots business initiatives for each respective client o Manages junior staff (at any point 1-3 personnel) and is involved with evaluation of existing staff and consideration of potential employees o Responsible for continual briefing of unit Directors for the purpose of keeping their engagement in client initiatives, as well as for managing demands of Directors o Travels as required (often times on weekends) for presentations, meetings and other client or industry events o Core competencies include formulating marketing strategies, evaluating sponsorship proposals, and managing client services o Design decks and word documents that convey strategy supported with appropriate research o Produce relevant research from databases, industry trades and additional sources
Critical Skills: o Strong ability to effectively communicate ideas in both a written and verbal setting o Expert in industry knowledge and understanding of sports marketing vernacular and trends o Ability to work well under pressure and deliver assignments under deadline o Ability to effectively and intelligently communicate with clients, internal strategy teams, alternate OMD SBU's and other agencies as needed o Ability to multi-task and manage daily responsibilities in a sensible and responsible manner o Ability, willingness, and flexibility to work beyond the normal hours of the traditional work day o "Self-starter" traits are essential o High level of proficiency in word, excel, power point and online research o Efficiency, organization and ability to handle multiple tasks o Ability to perform and thrive in both a structured and unstructured environment o Self-sufficient, enthusiastic and proactively pursues assignments
Examples of Duties and Essential Functions: Qualifications and Standards: o Undergraduate degree required (preferably marketing, business, sports management or communications) o Graduate or professional degree, or equivalent experience, recommended o 7-10 years of experience that provides aforementioned skills and abilities
