Education Center Director: Family Service Association

Family Service Association has been helping individuals and families improve their lives and strengthen their communities since 1903. From six neighborhood locations and from 32 school campuses, we provide high quality service in E nglish and Spanish to the residents of 28 counties of all ethnic and racial backgrounds and all socio-economic levels. We are a private, non-profit, non-sectarian agency funded by the United Way , and many governmental and private charitable foundations. We are currently seeking an E ducation Center Directors to join our team in San Antonio , TX .

Education Center Director

The E ducation Center Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of each Satellite E ducation Head Start Center to be in compliance with Federal Head Start standards, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services licensing regulations, agency policies & procedures, coupled with excellence in exceeding customer service expectations. In this role, you will oversee the classroom setting, instructional practices and daily activities to ensure they are appropriate to the needs of young children. In accordance with Head Start Regulations, you will ensure the staff- to-child ratio is maintained at all times, and coordinate the arrival and dismissal of the children.

You will communicate the goals of the agency and Agency’s Head Start services to community groups, stakeholders and organizations through written materials, oral presentations and media appearances; and participate in multi-agency coordination and collaboration activities. Additionally, you will manage the collection of data and service questionnaires/surveys and the completion of data and contractual tracking through the data management system and/or other tracking systems required by stakeholder and/or agency requirements.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in E arly Childhood E ducation or other related human service field; or Associate’s degree in a related field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education, and on a an educational career track to complete a Bachelor’s degree by September, 2010; a State awarded certificate for Preschool Teachers that meets or exceeds the requirements for a Childhood Development Associate Credential; or at minimum a Child Development Associate Credential that is appropriate to the 3 and 4-year old children served in Satellite Center-based classroom sites.

· Certificate or license, as applicable, by the appropriate state agency as a qualified Practitioner

· State of Texas vehicle operator’s license and proof of liability insurance

· Previous experience teaching pre-school age children

· Previous supervision experience required

· Minimum of 6 hours in Business Management education

· Experience in collaborative relationships, organization and planning

· Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

· Must be able to pass a drug and criminal background check

· Ability to present a copy of degree certificate(s) and/or proof of licensure(s)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current or former experience in a Head Start education services
• Bilingual ( E nglish/Spanish), preferred
