This Job Description for the Staff RN provides criteria for evaluation of the Registered Nurse working in the Staff RN position. POSITION RESPONSIBILITY

E1. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients.
E2. Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice for Medical Surgical Unit and managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.
E3. Participates in activities to plan, measure, asses and improve the quality of patient care.
E4. Responds to Code Blue and implements life-saving measures, per ACLS protocol.
E5. Assesses patients in an on going manner, per protocol.
E6. Assists physician with procedures, as needed (i.e., thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, and venous access devices).
E7. Assumes the responsibility of charging the unit, as needed.
E8. Responsible for assessment of patient with telemetry monitoring and/or continuous pulse oximeter.
E9. Responsible for maintaining customer friendly atmosphere.
E10. Draws blood from venous lines.
E11. Models and reinforces behavior consistent with goals for teaching the patient, communicates patient status to appropriate member of the healthcare team, and provides support to the family, as needed.
E12. Scanning supplies from P.O.U. area.
E13. Responsible for ensuring Through-Put Plan is enforced and followed.
E14. Responsible for scanning patient armbands and administering medications via E-MAR.
E. 17 Responsible for entering orders via Order Management in computer
E. 18 Responsible for ensuring core measure patients are identified and protocols followed.
E.19 Responsible for maintaining patient safety goals

Required Job Qualifications include:

Current licensure as an RN.
Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider and NRP.
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
