Title: Principal Software Quality Engineer (Storage, Virtualization)

We are looking for a Senior Software Quality Engineer to join a team that is testing and qualifying high availability, multi-platform, system-level, storage-related products that involve kernel and user-level components. We are looking for hands-on, talented, innovative and practical individuals with experience in designing test cases and test plans, configuring and trouble-shooting test beds and test configurations, testing and qualifying system level software and product components on a predictable schedule.

Role and responsibilities:

• Candidate will have to understand the storage related product and be responsible for creating test plans, execute the tests & report results within the testing schedule.


• Perform installation and configuration of setup in Lab to carry out testing.


• Execute given assignments in a self-directed manner, anticipate issues, and modify procedures as necessary


• Effectively communicate testing activities and findings in oral and written formats


• Follow standard engineering practices under the direction of others. Demonstrate self-initiative and seeks assistance when required.


• Some weekends and evenings will be required.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline is required.


• 6 -8 years of experience with 4 or more years experience in Quality Assurance for system level software products.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience with Software development lifecycle, SQA and Quality concepts. A demonstrated career commitment to testing and quality assurance is preferred.


• Knowledge of storage and storage related technologies including SAN and storage management, IP networks, etc.


• Experience with multiple common computer platforms (AIX, HP/UX, Linux, Solaris, Windows, VMWare)


• Working experience with File Systems (ufs/ vxfs ) Volume Managers (LVM/VxVM) and Clusters (VCS, Oracle RAC)


• Exposure to Storage hardware (Symmetrix, CLARiiON), SAN switches (Cisco, Brocade).and Business Continuity applications (TimeFinder/SRDF, MirrorView).


• Programming, System Administration or Database administration experience is a plus.


• Perl/Python/Shell scripting experience is an advantage.


• Experience with HP Quality Center is good to have.


• Previous experience working in an MNC environment - an advantage


• Excellent verbal and written communications skills


• Ability to work with geographically dispersed team

• Work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrated ability to deliver work under extremely tight development schedules.


• Must be a team player.
