Medical Technologist II - Full Time: University Community Health
![]() Across from the University of South Florida, you'll find University Community Hospital the flagship of University Community Health. This 431-bed facility is home to our six centers of excellence focusing resources on major disease areas including cancer treatment, cardiac care, women's health, pediatrics, diabetes management and orthopedics, and offer patients access to the most advanced technology and treatment options. Although we employ a staff of over 3,000 and provide the expertise of nearly 900 physicians and more than 50 different specialties, we strive to maintain a family atmosphere. In addition, University Community Hospital offers several specialized service units including intensive care, pediatric/neonatal intensive care, rehabilitation, occupational health, continuing care and orthopedic, pediatric and general surgery as well as a 24-hour emergency department with dedicated treatment facilities for chest pain, pediatrics and minor care. The Medical Technologist performs laboratory testing in accordance with the Division of Clinical Laboratory Standards and pursuant to Florida Department of Professional Regulation, Chapter 64B3-13.003. Perform competency validated laboratory procedures ordered by appropriate Medical Staff and Physician. Oversees the day-to-day operations of various lab sections in the absence of a Supervisor or Senior Technologist. REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE: Associate Degree-Science degree meeting state licensure requirements(64B3-5.003). State of Florida -Technologist Licensed in Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry and Immunology and a Minimum 2 years experience. PREFERENCES INCLUDE: Bachelor Degree, Medical Technology and more that 2 years experience in at least Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology and Microbiology. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and to demonstrate that s/he can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. 1. Basic computer and keyboarding skills. 2. Ability and willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment. 3. Ability to work and willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, etc. 4. Ability and willingness to work at multiple facilities and/or in multiple departments 5. Ability and willingness to adapt to change. 6. Knowledge of laboratory rules and regulations including: CAP, CLIA and State of Florida. 7. Strong interest in development of leadership skills. 8.
