**The key skill/profile for this position is a candidate with 50% of assignments being construction defect **
MUST have 10 (or more) years of solid experience handling complex casualty claims. Must have Construction Defect experience (at least 50% of claims), including Public Entity Liability, Transportation, and other specialty areas experience; Self Insurance Retention.
Position Description:
Under limited technical direction, investigates, evaluates and resolves complex, moderate to high value construction liability claims. Works within specific limits of authority on assignments requiring significant technical expertise. In compliance with claims policies and guidelines, reviews coverage, coordinates and completes investigations, directs litigation efforts, evaluates liability and compensability, and negotiates settlements to prompt and equitable resolution.
Performs a combination of the following duties and others as assigned in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Reviews and analyzes more complex or unusual policy coverages and assess applicability of coverage to claims submitted, escalating issues as necessary. provides recommendations above authority levels and effectively concludes claims in a cost effective manner. Insures timely issuance of disbursements. 3. Coordinates and performs investigations including contact with insureds, claimants, witnesses and retained experts. Evaluates claims and suits based on investigation and concludes accordingly. settlement strategies. recoveries. agents, and insureds as needed regarding the handling and/or disposition of more complex claims. needed. areas as necessary. industry activity and trends.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
MINIMUM of 10 (or more) years of solid casualty claims experience with significant, five plus years, construction liability experience a must.
Candidates should possess: environment. statutes and procedures along with a multi-state working knowledge. 4. Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills including the ability to engage underwriters, insured’s and their brokers in a courteous and professional manner. decisions effectively. software.
Education and Experience:

Duties/Responsibilities: Responsibilities include accountability for a pending of approximately 120 - 140 claims. Candidate will possess the ability to evaluate coverage and exposures, formulate strategies for the resolution of those claims, direct defense counsel’s efforts and assure compliance with the Company’s Litigation Management guidelines. Candidate must be willing to travel to trials and mediations as needed in order to monitor and negotiate high complex claims to resolution.
