· This position is responsible for proactive monitoring of an Enterprise network.
· Provides support with installing, troubleshooting and maintaining the network.
· Works with the Recovery group and other support specialists to resolve installation and quality problems.
· Keeps records of maintenance activities and system performance.
· In this position, you will work on portions of the network carrying classified information.
· Operates under general supervision.
· Perform Network Monitoring via Netview.
· Create and update Remedy tickets.
· Report outages to Operations Manager or Designee.
· Create and update Shift Report entries.
· Monitor Netview Event Browser for UP/Down nodes status and SNMP Traps and report any issues to the Engineer I.
· First line of communication between the Network Operations Center Partners and Engineers.
· Perform initial call out to sites for down devices. Perform additional tasks as directed by senior personnel.
· Reports to the NOC Operations Manager
Qualifications:
· Associates degree or certification in computer installation and repairs through vocational school or equivalent experience.
· 1-2 years experience with installations and technical support and with LAN/WAN/MAN in performing installations, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various network devices.
· Working knowledge of trouble ticketing software (Remedy) and network monitoring solutions (Tivoli NetView and CiscoWorks).
· Ability to install software configurations on routers and switches to verify their performance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
· Previous experience with CISCO equipment and practices preferred.
· CCNA certification preferred.
· Previous experience working on military bases/sites, including previous military service highly desirable.
· Experience with TCP/IP and Ethernet, especially gigabit Ethernet preferred.
· Strong communications, writing and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in the networking process.
· Strong problem solving and troubleshooting.
