Logistics Specialist I

Job Description:
Performs a wide variety of tasks relating to the storage, movement, and tracking of materials, merchandise and equipment. Provides direct face to face support to internal and external customers on a daily basis. Duties include overseeing warehousing, pre-deployment staging, shipping/receiving and inventory/material control. Responsible for the configuration and maintenance of warehousing areas to include organization and maintenance of specialized equipment configurations. Managing customer requests utilizing various computers/databases to select, locate, and track material/equipment in preparation for shipment. Supervise, monitor, and maintain equipment and supplies. Overseeing the operations of vehicles to transport passengers, material or merchandise. Monitor the tracing shipments. Responsible for government and company property tracking and control. Performs a wide variety of planning, scheduling, coordinating and reporting tasks in support of the Operations and Maintenance workflow. Coordinates and monitors workflow, assisting in scheduling and prioritizing activities in assigned area. Analyzes and reconciles data. Investigates inconsistencies. Determines and communicates impacts to affected individuals, and initiates and takes corrective action. Prepares reports and summaries of weekly activities. Replies to inquiries. Draws attention to important items and actual or potential problems and assists in developing solutions. Checks for work correctness.
Employment is contingent upon having the ability of obtaining a military Interim Secret Security Clearance within 60 days of offer.
Required Skills and Experience:
-Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. -Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. -Must be able to move and/or lift weights such as test equipment, ladders, tools, and cable reels weighing up to 70 pounds using proper lifting techniques or material moving equipment -Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility. -Valid Driver's license with good driving record. -Proficiency in the operation of MHE (Material Handling Equipment) including fork lift, pickup truck with trailer to include backing up.. -Ability to obtain CDL with Hazmat endorsement
Desired Skills:
* Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification (49 CFR). * Hazardous Materials Air Shipper Certification (IATA). * Good organizational skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. * Effective, pleasant, and professional interpersonal skills, with a “can-do” attitude.
Security Clearance Requirements: Must have ability to obtain a military Interim Secret Security Clearance within 60 days of offer.
Required Education (including major): A Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field or a minimum of 8 years experience and/or a combination of education, experience and training may substitute for the degree.
