May perform one or more of the following:
- Directs the activities of an integrated hardware/software systems team
- Plans and organizes the development of systems programming and operating system capabilities for the data processing facility to assure the interfacing of software systems with hardware configuration and applications system requirements
- Develops and implements system software and technical requirements for operating systems, compilers, and utility programs in line with corporate standards
- Evaluates current and projected hardware/software needs, and coordinates the installation of new operating systems
- Manages staff and prioritizes workload in line with customer needs as appropriate.
1.5-7 years experience with UNIX
2. Knows how to script & comfortable with both GUI & command line interfaces
3. Direct attached storage management experience eg. modular arrays directly attached to hosts
4. Experience with Enterprise Monitoring tools.
5. Any experience in any one or more of highly preferred skills listed as follows:
A. Knowledge on configuring Hitachi storage arrays from any of the following 92xx, 95xx, 99xx, HP XP512, XP1024 & using HDS software such as high command.
B. Knowledge on configuring EMC storage arrays 88xx, DMX, Clariion
C. Knowledge including hands-on configuring Brocade, McData & HP Storage Area Networking (SAN) switches
D. Ability to design and determine required SAN configurations for small to mid size enterprise solutions.
E. Experience with Network Attached Storage (NAS) configuration management, administration & security such as on EMC Celerra & Netapp.
F. UNIX and/or windows administration experience with using clustered software such as Veritas, MC Service guard.
G. UNIX and/or windows administrators experience with using volume management and file system management.
H. NetBackup and/or TSM backup installation, configuration and management.
I. Replication software such as HDS Truecopy, EMC SRDF, Veritas VVR
