MPEG/MPEG2, H264, Win32 API, DShow, QT, Client/Server, ActiveX/COM, Distributed Systems

A media content company is looking for a Software Engineer who is proficient with video-related technologies. This is a growing company with great potential over the next few years. It is currently a small office environment, but they expect to double in size over the next two years. The Client is looking for Software Engineers who know about the details of video.

Position Description:

The Software Engineer will be proficient at writing programs to manipulate audio and video sources that are typically television content.

About Our Client:

    Our Client, created from a merger in September of 2008, seeks to help media companies monetize their video content online. Specifically, the Company powers multi-platform video syndication for content on three screens. It allows media companies to efficiently:
    • Re-purpose and index their content for multiple outlets and devices.
    • Syndicate their content across their own properties and third party destinations.
    • Better capitalize upon the online advertising market.

This is a Contract to Direct Hire position, through Volt Workforce Solutions - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, based in Woburn, MA. We are among the largest IT staffing companies in the US for contract/temporary and direct hire placements and support most of the top rated IT companies on the East Coast.



Job Requirements:

Required Skills for this Software Engineer position include the following:

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates MUST HAVE experience with the following as they are a major focus of this role:

  • MPEG and/or H264 Internals
  • Win32 API
  • DShow
  • QT
  • Client/Server
  • ActiveX/COM
  • Distributed Systems

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSS:

  1. Must have solid experience with MPEG
  2. Must be familiar with the following formats for playback on cell phones, computers, broadcast, cable, satellite and IP television:
    • MPEG2
    • H.264
    • DV
    • DVCpro
    • VC1
    • Flash 8
    • QuickTime
  3. Must have experience with:
    • Avid Editing Systems
    • Avid Lanshare
    • Adobe After Effects 7.0 or greater
    • Sorenson Squeeze
    • Photoshop CS3
    • Other PC-based Video Software
    • Microsoft Office
  4. Must be an expert user of Windows Operating Systems
  5. Must be well-versed in the following programming languages:
    • Flash/ActionScript
    • Director/Lingo
    • DVD Authoring/Encoding
    • HTML
    • ASP
    • JavaScript
  6. Individuals who have worked for Avid or SeaChange a plus
