| | Overview: Software QA Engineer
Palm is looking for an experienced Software QA Engineer. This is an opportunity to join a world-class team and to build cutting edge products. You will be working in a highly collaborative environment, working closely with developers to deliver outstanding products. The person filling this position must be hands-on, pro-active and self-motivated. The person we are seeking has a desire to succeed and is capable of excelling in a challenging environment; an environment that requires multi-tasking and has frequently shifting priorities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of preliminary and detailed design
• Participate in architectural reviews and analysis to ensure the efficacy of technical solutions.
• Conduct systems, high-level integration and performance testing
• Design and verify test cases using functional requirements
• Isolate defects and perform root cause analysis
• Perform regression / verification testing using the latest available software and tools
• Provide and meet time estimates for assigned deliverables
• Evaluate and suggest improvements to the software development process
• Work closely with the software developers to ensure a successful, high quality release
Qualifications:
• 3 years SQA
• Experience with back-end, front-end and connectivity components of framework-driven web application.
• Configuration and change management of software components and packages including defect/issue reporting and tracking
• Experienced with Linux, scripting languages, C, C++ and Java.
• Motivated by continuous learning and development, dedication to building a superior product.
Skills/Experience:
• Three or more years of server software testing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary development team of highly creative engineers and marketers
• Ability to work independently and overcome challenging problems
• Ability to extend existing test automation frameworks
• Ability to contribute proactively in a positive way with all members of the project team
• Familiarity with multiple Operating Systems (Linux is a plus)
• Experience working with external partners or developers is a plus
• Experience working with PDAs or cell phones a plus
Education:
B.S. or equivalent experience
Travel:
Travel may be required for this position but is held to the minimum possible
