The Intermodal Operations Manager must be able to fit into the company culture, and -constantly strive to be the best. You will be responsible for overseeing the Intermodal Operations department. Inspiring your team to achieve and exceed established professional goals, measuring their performance, and molding them into future department managers/leaders will also be integral components to the success of the department.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum 3-5 years of Intermodal Operations background. A complete understanding of the Intermodal mechanics a must. A strong negotiator, with the railroads and the dray carriers. Sales and/or account management experience, be able to motivate and empower team members, and have the ability to formulate and implement new/innovative solutions to client problems.

Accordingly, he/she must be a high energy self starter, goal and achievement driven, and highly self-motivated. You must be able to place focus on the day to day operations and details of the department, while at the same time planning for the future and focusing on the big-picture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coach and motivate an Intermodal operations team.
  • Have a complete understanding of Intermodal pricing. (railroads, carriers, equipment costs)
  • Build and maintain railroad and dray carrier relationships.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, account managers, outside sales and team members.
  • Anticipate and resolve potential customer service, carrier, and internal team issues.
  • Manage team members that coordinate, track and trace shipments.
  • Pro actively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solution.
  • Participates in special projects and handles all other assigned duties as required.
  • Establish rapport and build relationships with current and potential customers.
  • Have quarterly reviews with team members to ensure goals are being met or exceeded.
Job Requirements:
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills. Problem solving and decision making skills.
  • 3-5 year's Intermodal and logistics experience, preferably in an IMC.
  • Bachelors degree preferred but not required.
