    Description:
*Must have at least one year experience cooking in a restaurant* To prepare, season, and cook soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items for consumption in the restaurant during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per dupe from servers. Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare more than estimated needs. Date all food containers and rotate as per the SOP, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures. Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked. Return all food items not used on next shift to designed storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables. Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems; control food waste, loss and usage per SOP. OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in prep work of vegetables and condiments as required for the next shift Consults with the Chef as to the food items planned for their shift *Sets up his station using the station check-list. *Cooks food order items during shift and assists co-workers and Chef *Rotates in work area to whatever needs arise. *Keeps station neat and clean and is polite to all service personnel. * Keeps food on the line fresh and containers clean. *Ensures dirty pots and pans are returned to the Kitchen for washing. *Cleans up station and turns station over to the upcoming shift. *Keeps all waste to a minimum. *Reports shortage of china and food items immediately. *Ensures that all machines and knives are used in a safe and hygienic manner at all times. *Carries out any other duties as may be assigned.
