Family Service Association has been helping individuals and families improve their lives and strengthen their communities since 1903. From six neighborhood locations and 32 school campuses, we provide high quality service in English and Spanish to the residents of 11 counties of all ethnic and racial backgrounds and all socio-economic levels. We are a private, non-profit, non-sectarian agency funded by the United Way. We are currently seeking a Project Mentor to join our team in San Antonio, TX.
Project Mentor
Working with the Lead Agency staff and being supervised by the Agency partners, the Project Mentor will provide classroom support for project implementation to produce cost-effective, quality school readiness programming for high risk children.
Responsibilities: · Provide professional staff development/in-classroom mentoring for targeted teachers · Facilitate Teacher use of web-based professional development services · Complete classroom observations as scheduled and provide to Project Coordinator Mentor · Develop and supervise implementation of child progress monitoring (using PDAs) and use of information to inform classroom instruction · Serve as a resource for early childhood research and assessment and use of curriculum materials in local and out-of-town meetings/conferences scheduled by partnering agencies
Qualifications: As an experienced and dedicated professional, you should possess the following attributes, abilities, experience and skills: · Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred · Demonstrated effectiveness as an Early Childhood Teacher and/or Early Childhood Staff Trainer/Mentor · Experience in the use of research based pre-kindergarten literacy/language/numeracy teaching materials · Knowledge of pre-school literacy screening and progress monitoring and how each informs classroom instruction · Knowledge of Texas pre-kindergarten guidelines, Head Start child outcomes and child care licensing standards · Experience in training and mentoring adults · Functional knowledge of Internet use and of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
