Job Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory characterization of next generation ASICs and next generation light-wave modules, at serial data rates > 10 Gb/s.
  • Development of characterization plans.
  • Design and implementation of physical package and thermal management solutions
  • Design and implementation of laboratory hardware and software used for subsystem characterization.
  • Data analysis.
  • Root-cause analysis.
  • Cross-functional data review with peers in chip, package, system engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements:

  • MS or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, physics or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in high speed electronic or optoelectronic device characterization and test.
  • Good understanding of broadband circuit architectures and circuits for high speed optical communications: e.g. linear and limiting amplifiers, transimpedance amplifiers, modulator drivers, clock and data recovery circuits, phase-locked loops, signal processing circuits, equalizer and pre-emphasis circuits, multiplexers, and de-multiplexers.
  • Understanding of high-speed and microwave circuit principles.
  • Excellent high frequency lab skills and comfortable with daily work in a lab environment: e.g. high speed oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer. Direct experience with high-speed (> 10 Gb/s) component or system test is a plus.
  • Ability to design physical packaging, e.g. BGA, fixturing, and thermal management solutions for high speed (>10 Gb/s), high pin count integrated circuits.
  • Ability to design high speed (>10 Gb/s) test boards for use on lab bench. Proficiency in Allegro, ORCAD, or other board level design software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft VB.NET and/or LabView programming is desired.
  • Familiar with statistical data analysis and the use of databases. Proficiency in JMP software a plus.
  • Strong problem solving, failure mode analysis, teamwork, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to succeed in this position.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to produce extensive detailed documentation.
