Optical System Test Engineer: Infinera

Job Responsibilities:

• Define test methodologies, characterization and validation of optical network NE.
• Develop test plan, setup and run both manual and automated tests.
• Replicate field reported issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Setup and maintain the test processes and labs to meet TL9000 and ISO9001 compliance.
• Estimate accurate test efforts for defect verification, regression and new feature testing.
• Continually update on testing progress and at the completion/conclusion of testing activity prepare a detailed test report and contribute data towards continual improvement and post mortem activities.
• Fully responsible for new module functional testing, diagnostics of various software and hardware modules, DSP, microprocessors etc.
• Study and understand the functional testing requirements to cover field deployment scenarios and tests performed in manufacturing. Ensure these tests are performed before each release of the software.
• Come up with test matrix of firmware versions/software versions and test such combinations and perform firmware download tests
• Provide test related input to hardware and software designers
• Evaluate test results and provide detailed reports of the results. Provide recommendation based on finding of test results.
• Identify, analyze and resolve technical problems and test failures. Reproduce field rated anomalies in test lab and perform root-cause failure analysis and drive issue to closure.
• Automate test cases to ensure the coverage in regression
• Work closely with system engineering, hardware, software, product marketing and other teams to ensure a quality release.
• Monitor the progress with respect to delivery deadline and promptly escalate issues to management.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelors in Engineering with minimum 5+ years test experience; Masters preferred.
• Experienced in system level testing of optical transport and switching network elements (NE) in the telecom domain that support OTN, SONET/SDH, GigE, FC, DWDM, and Optical Amplifiers.
• Experience in handling various types of test equipment, logic analyzers for SONET / SDH / DWDM / GigE / FC interfaces is required.
• Experienced in product life cycle development and test methodologies related to requirement compliance, test plan development, test execution and defect flow.
• Experience in Perl, C/C++. Must have written scripts to test the hardware-software interfaces.
• Experience with test automation tools and framework is highly desired.
• Hands-on experience with HW bring-up, high temperature/burn-in testing etc. is preferred.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Experienced in working with remote and off-shore teams.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally based on project needs.
