Buyer for mechanical products. Responsible for supply chain plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to quality requirements per Winergy Standards and Specifications, ISO9000:2000, and other wind energy standards.
Follow and enforce established procedures and approved processes.
Proactively develop vendor, qualification and continual approval process.
Develop and publish metrics related to purchasing department within the organization as well for vendor base. Will travel up to 50% for supplier visits, audits and reviews.
Job Description
Responsible for strategic supply chain
Plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental purchasing activities to fulfill orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufactured products in a timely fashion.
Buying, logistics, expediting, negotiating, etc.
Develop new supply base and enhance the existing base
Follow and enforce established procedures and approved processes
Assist all departments in developing and maintaining a high standard of in process quality.
Develop and regulate quality process at vendor base and perform regular audits with assistance from Quality Assurance Manager.
Develop plan, establish and refine processes and audit to meet or exceed the ISO9000 requirements.
Develop comprehensive metrics on assuring on time, quality and price competitive delivery.
Coordinate activities with all department managers to ensure customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Requires a B.S. or BA Degree in related disipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of progressive purchasing experience in manufacturing or related environment as a Buyer required.
- Prior experience in contract manufacturing (direct buying) is preferred
- SAP background is required.
- Must be willing to travel 40-50%, in North America and possibly international.
- Have knowledge of ISO9000 and other quality standards is preferred.
- Will have a thorough knowledge of all purchasing techniques and related skills.
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Must be data oriented with analytics capability.
- Working closely with other buyers and planners in a team environment.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
- Must be computer literate as well as Microsoft Office related products like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
