St. Mary’s University Part Time Police Communications Operator
Serve as an ambassador by accepting calls for University Police services, not limited to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, communicates the service requests to field personnel and logs those requests, besides performing office related duties. Maintains a communication system of information for the university police between field officers, departments, faculty, staff and the student body as well as the general public.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Receives and assess incoming calls; Assists callers as necessary to obtain desired assistance; Assists university Police personnel with coordination of emergency calls as needed; Handles confidential calls and conversations with discretionAbility to Communicate via Radio And Other Communication Instruments.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must enjoy talking to people; Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing English; Bilingual is a plus.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE: Prefer experience handling a high volume of calls as a switchboard operator or receptionist. TCIC/NCIC Full Access certification preferred.
