Human Resources Generalist
Purpose of the Job/Principal Responsibilities:
The HR Generalist is responsible for administering policies and procedures that cover several functional areas that may include employee relations, terminations, new hire orientations, leave of absence administration and benefits administration. The incumbent will assist with the communication, and implementation of organizational policies, and ensure that the organization's policies are met and comply with local, state, and federal labor laws. The incumbent will maintain sensitive documentation for employees and applicants in conjunction with HR staff. Position requires being a liaison with KU employees and management; corporate HR, benefits, payroll staff; and outside agencies.
Typical activities include:
· Conducts new employee orientation, ensuring submission of completed paperwork.
· Works with company supervisors to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of documentation and MSS transaction entry.
· Coordinates benefits activity: assists with open enrollment meetings; acts as resource for employee issues, escalating as necessary; assists with leave of absence administration (FMLA); coordinates GOK activity
· Tracks and processes workers compensation claims. Investigates and reports claim to provider and provides necessary documentation, in conjunction with HR staff.
· Coordinates termination process, collects company assets, assists in exit interview process.
· Processes unemployment claims on a timely basis. Performs research and supplies proper documentation to support the claim.
· Works with HRIS Manager to ensure data integrity and reporting needs for the facility are addressed.
· Supports HR and management staff in resolution of employee issues; in conducting company events (including new hire feedback sessions and focus groups); and in compliance training, employee retention initiatives, and performance review process.
· Participates in regular staff meetings and attends other departmental meetings as necessary.
· Assist Sr. HR Manager with ER matters, including investigations
· Work as Liaison w/Communication Department re: company wide events/local events
· Ensure compliance with labor law postings, compliance logs, etc..
· Assist Sr. HR Manager with HR Initiatives
· Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Education and Experience:
· BA or BS in Human Resources preferred or related field or PHR/SPHR or equivalent, relevant job experience
· 2-3 years HR Generalist experience, preferably in a call center environment
· Knowledge of current State and Federal Wage, Employment Laws and HR policies and procedures
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Effective oral and written communication (including ability to present materials to large groups), problem-solving, and organizational skills
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, to manage the administrative processes of an HR department, and to identify problems requiring escalation
· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate sensitive and confidential matters effectively to all levels
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
· Must be able to work some evenings/weekends required if business needs dictate
Measurement of Success:
The HR Generalist will be evaluated based on (a) ability to communicate HR and benefits policy and procedures (b) ability to build and retain relationships with staff and management (c) ability to carry out projects as assigned (d) ability to deliver customer service to employees and positive feedback from management and (e) retention of staff in assigned client group.
