Across from the University of South Florida, you'll find University Community Hospital the flagship of University Community Health. The Physical Therapy Assistant implements patient care for assigned patients under the direction of a Physical Therapist in accordance with the FPTA standards and pursuant to Florida Department of Professional Regulation, Chapter 486.021 (b): 'The practice of PT assistant means a person who is licensed in accordance with the provisions of this chapter to perform patient related activities, including the use of physical agents, whose license is in good standing and whose activities are performed under the direction of a PT as set forth in rules adapted pursuant to this chapter.' Requirements include: Graduate of an accredited School for PT Assistant, specific degree in Physical Therapy Assistant, Current Florida license as a PT Assistant and a valid BCLS or completion within 90 days of hire. FOR SPECIALTY AREAS: Previous experience as specified by PT Manager may be required.
