Job Description
Siemens Water Technologies (SWT) and Turblex (A Siemens Company) has an immediate opening for a Senior Process Engineer to assist Siemens Building Technologies (SBT) in preparation of Energy Service Company Performance Contracts. SBT is a licensed ESCO and as such, routinely works in municipal wastewater treatment plants offering alternative funding methods for completing capital improvements that lead to energy savings and other O&M cost reductions along with future capital expenditure avoidance.
The Engineering Channel Partner would act as the single point of contact for SBT sales force and the Alternative Energy Group in assessing the energy saving opportunities and selecting the Siemens equipment, processes or control systems that would optimize the energy and cost reductions in the plant. The capital improvements would be funded through an ESCO performance contract where the municipality would pay for the improvements from the guaranteed savings generated by the improvements.
The qualified candidate would be capable of reviewing available data from NPDES permits, site energy audits, As-Built Plans, and annual power and fuel usage and then determining the savings potential of implementing Siemens solutions to improve energy use and reduce overall O&M costs. The candidate would work closely with the SBT Alternative Energy Engineers and our consulting engineer partners in developing the optimum energy saving solutions and preparing a proposal presenting the Siemens solution.
Coordination of the activities of SBT, SWT, Turblex, other Siemens Operating Companies and our independent representatives would be a critical aspect of this position. Communicating to all Operating Companies and reps regarding the status of all on-going projects and proposal is a key responsibility.
This candidate would have to work in partnership with the selected consulting engineer for the project design and become the single point of contact for the consultant in accessing equipment and information in any of the Siemens Operating Companies working on the project.
The candidate would be capable of developing tools for specific products and processes for calculating ROI’s at two stages of the project. A quick tool for screening opportunities and a detailed tool that would allow calculation of complete ROI including capital, construction and installation. Experience in calculating construction and installation estimations is required.
The candidate would be responsible for assessing and guiding SBT sales force and Alternative Energy Engineers into key markets that match Siemens equipment with wastewater facility operations for largest energy saving potentials. This candidate will have the responsibility for forecasting the product bookings among Siemens Operating Companies.
The Senior Process Engineer may be called on to present the Siemens qualifications or technical proposal so exceptional speaking skills are required.
Required Background / Skill
Minimum of 10 years experience in wastewater treatment plant design.
Strong skills in biological process design
Strong skills in mechanical and diffused aeration sizing
Experienced with most wastewater unit operations from headworks through disinfection and discharge.
Experience in construction estimation
Familiarity with Siemens wastewater processes and products a plus.
Exceptional public speaking skills
Travel 25% to 35%
Possibility for remote office
