The Principle Sales Engineer or Representative is responsible for growing the sale of Timken products and services in their geographic territory for both Industrial Distribution and Industrial Original Equipment Manufacturers. Sales growth will be accomplished by utilizing both push and pull tactics through Industrial Bearing Distributors and direct sales for OEM customers. It is critical for this person to develop relationships with customers that builds loyalty to the Timken brand, while delivering solution to customer needs. In addition, the seller must be able to focus direct efforts on selling at the end user customer in markets such as primary metals, mining, machine tool, cement, aggregate, paper, food processing, and off highway equipment. The individual will promote the entire product offering of bearings, seals, and friction management solutions.
Requirements:
- Achieve business plan objectives for both the OE and DM sales territory.
- Coordinate with all front end units, service engineering and original equipment sales resources in the "matrix organization" to develop relationships, execute strategies & achieve results in the best interest of Timken.
- Maintain and develop relationships with distributor partner branch locations and key distributor senior management personnel within the territory.
- Manage distributors and end user accounts within the sales territory including setting annual sales/purchase goals for each distributor, and committing to specific actions to support Distribution Management market strategies.
- Provide technical training and support to industrial distributors and end users in areas of product knowledge, maintenance practices, product installation, adjustment and damage analysis.
- Manage OE product development projects, bring Timken's Value Proposition to satisfy there needs.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in business or a technical areas such as mechanical engineering or industrial engineering or equivalent directly related work experience. Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills are required. Previous sales experience and familiarity with industrial distribution channels is preferred. This position requires overnight travel approximately 5 - 10 days a month with some weekend and evening responsibilities.
This job may be filled at various levels depending on the skills, qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
In order to cover this territory effectively, the individual for this position, must live in the Peoria, Illinois area.
