Responsible for managing, planning and coordinating with the overall farming operation of a field station for contract research services (GEP/GLP/APHIS) in accordance with policies and procedures
Initiates and develops business opportunities with sponsor representatives.
• Continuously manages research sites ensuring optimum performance and results are achieved; and provides report status to clients.
• Regularly monitors all projects to ensure they are completed, as per project protocol, within timeframe and budget.
• Ensures compliance with all USDA, EPA, FDA and Sponsor rules and regulations.
• Provides guidance and support to personnel conducing project evaluations, GLP applications and sampling events to ensure quality results.
• Supervises agronomic data collection in addition to sampling and harvesting.
• Completes inspection reports, prepares operational reports and presents to operations office for review on a timely basis.
• Responsible for staying current with technical/industry practices and updating methodology as appropriate.
• Serves on and supports internal/external technical committees as required.
• Audits operations to ensure the staff is utilizing safe procedures while conducting tests and that housekeeping procedures are in compliance with Industry standards and Company policies and procedures are maintained.
• This position has direct and indirect responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of those individuals. Executes responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws and the organization's policies which include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Conduct regular employee meetings to ensure that all personnel are completely informed with regard to policies, procedures and performance issues, for their development and improvement
Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Sciences or other related scientific disciplines.
• A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of direct transferable and increasingly responsible experience small and large plot research as well as in the farming industry.
• Comprehensive knowledge of field research procedures, including Efficacy, GLP and APHIS project management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and/or groups both within the organization or while representing the organization. • Ability to build and lead an effective team and foster a sense of collaboration to achieve goals • Able to identify emerging shifts in the industry through the review of competitive analysis coupled with the ability to make sound suggestions or recommendations to maintain competitive. • Effective problem solving and analytical skills, with proven ability to see a project through to delivery within budget. • Able to partner effectively with multidisciplinary and multinational teams • Excellent time management skills which includes the ability to balance multiple projects concurrently (with different deadlines) and to marshal the resources necessary to accomplish them. • Maintain current knowledge of rules, regulations and advances in technology as it relates to the position.
