Pet Hotel Attendants Needed - Full Time, Part Time, Temporary!

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Supports KVI through the pet hotel functions, assuring that every guest has a quality experience and receives quality care, time and attention during his/her stay at the Pet Resort. Hotel attendants ensure that food, water, medications and treats are given regularly. In addition, all guests’ areas are cleaned and sanitized. Attendants also ensure that animal guests have appropriate activities, exercise and potty breaks.

All should be enthusiastic, able to multi-task and ensure customers - both internal and external - are delighted with their Kennelwood experience. A keen instinct for animal safety, proper procedure and loving commitment for the pets is also required. It is essential all are able to regularly stand for extended periods, able to walk dogs of all sizes on a leash, occasionally lift at least 40 pounds, bend, stretch and work in and around pet hair and dander. Prior experience in a veterinarian's office or hands-on work environment pet care is a PLUS!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure food bins are stocked; mark and initial bin note cards
  • Provide water bowls and meals to animal guest three times daily, or as directed on the door cards
  • Provide meds to animal guests; mark and initial med book and door cards accordingly
  • Review door cards accordingly and speak with department manager regarding corrections and questions
  • Clean and sanitize the kitchen immediately following feedings, including dishwashing and sanitizing counters, carts and applicable work areas
  • Provide exercise to animal guests
  • Clean and sanitize pet hotel areas, including removing pet waste, laundry, changing mop heads and buckets, vacuuming and emptying the central vac
  • Clean outside runs, including grassy areas and dispense Citronella spray
  • Conduct Yappy Hour and Bizzy Bones for animal guests
  • When services have been missed, make up the activity time or speak with department manager to have charges removed from customer’s bill
  • Clean Cattery, including change litter boxes, water bowls, cages, glass doors, trash removal and floors (sweep and mop)
  • Assure that everyone is doing their job according to safety procedures
  • Obtain customer feedback information including special pet handling requirements
  • Write and distribute report cards for animal guests leaving the hotel; include “free day of training coupons” for animals who you feel are good candidates
  • Conduct daily walk through of hotel area, noting service failures and/or hotel concerns
  • Ensures pet’s medical records are current, updated and noted on applicable door card
  • Partner with facility/department manager to meet and exceed customer's service expectations.
  • Process customer and department transactions according to established company procedures.
  • Provide timely feedback to the company regarding service failures or customer concerns.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Language Skills - Ability to speak, read and comprehend the English language. Interpret document such as customer receipts, special work instructions, departmental reports, budget reports, etc. Ability to write routine report and correspondence. Ability to speak and communicate will with customers.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills & Abilities

Must have a high school diploma or GED

Excellent communication skills

Good communication skills (grammar, voice and diction)

Excellent customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful)

Must be familiar with all products lines and customer base

Detail oriented; very observant of animal behavior and changes

Accepts direction

Dedicated to the health and welfare of animals, with genuine compassion

Zero tolerance for animal abuse, neglect of guests

Working Conditions – Primarily working inside temperature controlled building. Generally well-lighted with high noise levels (i.e. animals barking, machine running, etc.) Expected to work with or come into contact with water, animal hair, dander, animal excrement, chemicals and live animals on a daily basis. Full and Part Time available. Hours are: 2pm-10pm & 10pm-6am
