Climate Change Project Manager / GHG Auditor

Primary Responsibilities

Management and implementation of verification assignments for GHG inventories and emission reduction projects.

Delivering related training and advisory services.

Reporting

Director, SGS Climate Change Program, North America

Specific Responsibilities

Participate in core team marketing and sales activities and support the organization on such activities.

Monitoring of climate policy and new developments of GHG verification programs in North America .

Attend conferences and technical working groups.

Profile

SGS is seeking to recruit dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to assist in the growth of its Climate Change Program in North America . SGS is recognized as a global leader in the verification of greenhouse gas emissions. Employees will work closely with the regional and global management team and will also undertake the detail driven project management and auditing of new and existing clients. The candidate must have a Bachelors degree or Masters in engineering, environment management or other appropriate discipline. Auditing/consulting experience relating to emission inventory calculation, reporting and/or Environmental Management Systems auditing is required. The individual will be self motivated and capable of effectively managing time over a wide variety of activities.

Skills

University degree and 5 to 7 years (air quality emissions inventory/analysis) or 3 to 4 years auditing experience in greenhouse gases, ISO 9000 or ISO 14001 (preferably lead auditor qualification) is highly desirable.

Strong technical and scientific background in environmental, mechanical, civil or chemical engineering.

Energy, refinery, manufacturing or other relevant sector specific experience will be an advantage.

Advanced knowledge of GHG policies, programs, protocols and standards, in particular: WBCSD/WRI GHG Protocol, ISO 14064 , California GHG programs, CCX, RGGI , US DOE 1605b, US EPA Climate Leaders, Green-e, and CDM

Hands on mentality and enjoying working in complex and challenging work environments.

Excellent communication and writing skills and fluency in English required.

Ability to work under pressure and work with many tasks at the same time.

Market and customer as well as team oriented, fast learners, sharing knowledge.

Most positions will be based in our southern California office. Significant travel is required.
