Chemical Technician - San Antonio, TX



Spartan Staffing, a TrueBlue company, has an opening for a Chemical Technician at one of our clients in San Antonio, TX! This is a temp to permanent position.

Under direct or general supervision, the Chemical Technician will efficiently perform various chemical and physical analyses, primarily on petroleum products. May perform tasks requiring non-standard procedures and use of complex instrumentation. This position will perform basic troubleshooting, calibration, and equipment maintenance.

  • Performs numerous chemical and physical tests based on American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods or accepted industry standards, with high production in multiple test areas. Mistakes are seldom repeated.
  • Assists in equipment calibration and maintenance, as well as basic troubleshooting.
  • Cleans glassware and test equipment. Prepares reagents as needed.
  • Learns and records data on appropriate data sheets and reports data to LIMS system.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality records, control charts, and test area inventories, with training.
  • Responsible for complying with safety and housekeeping requirements.
  • Responsible for cross training, both as trainer and trainee.
  • Responsible for complying with departmental ISO procedures.
  • To carry out the above responsibilities, and all others which may be assigned, in a manner demonstrating support for and adherence to the Company's Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Policy and Procedures, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and Strategy, and to exercise good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy in so doing.

  • High school diploma or equivalent education, plus successful completion of 1 semester (4 hours) of college level chemistry or equivalent. Completion of advanced level courses in Chemistry preferred.
  • Work experience in a chemistry laboratory either through schooling or employment. Must demonstrate ability to efficiently operate at a high capacity in multiple testing areas.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure.
