103480 Research Scientist Woburn, MA Job Description : Employee performs laboratory functions required for running development, validation, and sample analysis assays for drugs, and antibodies to drugs, from biological samples in support of pharmaceutical studies, using ligand and antibody binding based assay techniques. Work is performed under the general supervision of Laboratory Director, Senior Group Leader, Group Leader, using Biomarker and Immunoanalytical Division SOPs and GLP guidelines, and applicable general SOPs for analytical integrity. The major duties and responsibilities of a Research Scientist include the following: 1. Follows all standard operating procedures, safety and security polices and prescribed GLP and Biomarker and Immunoanalytical Division practices, policies and guidelines; use SOP manual as reference to support work performed. Completes all necessary paperwork related to job duties. 2. Performs development, validation, and sample analysis assays, for drugs and antibodies to drugs, from biological samples, for projects according to prescribed procedures and practices as well as project directives. 3. Performs ELISAs and advanced technologies (including but not limited to technologies such as: Biacore; Luminex; Bioveris; MesoScale; robotics; automation; etc.). Performs routine maintenance on instrumentation, including but not limited to: tuning; calibrating; cleaning; changing lenses; tubing; filters; etc. Performs minor repairs on instrumentation at the direction of service engineers or other trained supervisory personnel. Documents all maintenance, calibration, and repairs as required. 4. May perform reviews of analytical data for acceptability of calibration, control values, response curve characteristics and quantitative limits. 5. May assist Project Manager in tracking work-in-progress and directing other project team members. Effectively communicates with team members and supervisors regarding work-related issues. Notifies supervisor or manager of problems or delays, potential hazards, instrument malfunction or inventory shortages or discrepancies. 6. Is familiar with all aspects of Watson LIMS , use of the relevant modules and functions for the Biomarker and Immunoanalytical Division. Utilizes Watson for assay run set up, analysis, quantitation, reviews, project status. 7. Assists in training of other laboratory personnel. Actively participates in training sessions related to job functions. 8. May perform as a Team Leader for an assigned IA team. 9. Represents Biomarker and Immunoanalytical Division at industry meetings, client visits. Presents scientific posters or presentations both in-house and publicly. 10. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements : Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in the Natural Sciences (advanced degrees preferred) or equivalent education/experience is required. basic knowledge of extraction (including SPE,L/L and PPT), LC and MS theroy is expected. Basic understanding of Bioanalytical and/or Pharmaceutical business and technology is required. Demonstrated ability to perform at the level of a Bioanalytical Division Assocate Research Scientist. Must possess adequate analytical skills to perform routine job functions indepentently. General analytical laboratory skills must include use of pipettes, centrifuges, incubator and evaporation devices, balances, pH meter, etc. Ability to apply basic laboraty math skills and statistics is required. Basic computer skills (Windows, Excel, WOrd) and attention to detail is required. Minium one year as a Bioanalytical Division Associate Research Scientist or 4 years equivaloent education or relevant experience. |
