Facilities Specialist, Operations (2557)

Exponent is a leading engineering and scientific consulting firm. Our more than 850 staff members work in 24 offices across the United States and abroad. Exponent has approximately 600 consultants, including more than 325 that have earned a doctorate in their chosen field of specialization.

Exponent is currently hiring for a Facilities Specialist to join our Operations team in Phoenix, AZ. The individual in this position will coordinate maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, electrical, HVAC, telephone PBX systems, furniture, locksmithing, site and building security, and building fire protection systems.

Responsibilities for this position will include:
  • General grounds maintenance to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdown of facilities, machinery, and equipment
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary office environment through adequate coordination of janitorial services
  • Scheduling approved maintenance repairs
  • Assisting with facility safety and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations including building and fire codes, OSHA, and EPA
  • Responding to the emergency needs of the firm on a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week basis
Qualifications for this position include:
  • High school diploma and at least 3 years of experience in the facilities maintenance field or related areas
  • Ability to setup and operate basic tools and machinery to perform assigned work
  • Ability to work in high places, such as roofs
  • Forklift experience a plus
  • Must have strong computer skills in desktop applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Must have excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented, able to excel under pressure as well as demonstrate strength, flexibility, and promptness in dealing with changes, and unanticipated challenges in a corporate environment
