Airgas-West Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Delivery Driver/Cylinder Filler/Inside Sales Rep to join our Prescott, Arizona team. Interested candidate must hold a valid Class B driver's license with hazmat endorsement and have prior CDL driving experience along with high pressure cylinder filling experience. Approximately 80% of the work will be performed in the capacity of a cylinder delivery driver/Cylinder filler and 20% as an inside sales rep (actual percentages subject to change). Knowledge of welding and/or related welding supplies and safety equipment a plus.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Driver Duties: Requires a valid Class B license with a hazmat endorsement. Deliver compressed gas cylinders, liquid cylinders, and hard goods to customers as scheduled or on an immediate need basis using a straight pick-up truck or stake-bed. Pick up empty cylinders from customer sites. Record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest and obtain signatures from customers for receipt purposes. Listens to and resolves service inquiries. Load/unload truck. Perform pre/ post trip vehicle inspections and ensure all safety items are in good working order. Maintain a safe, neat, clean and professional personal appearance, and maintain vehicle appearance in a professional manner.

Cylinder Filler Duties: Perform pre-fill inspection of high pressure and liquid cylinders, prep for filling, hook cylinders to fill manifolds, fill cylinders, and stage for delivery. Perform FDA record keeping and fill logs, meet production demands and order bulk product as needed.

Inside Sales Representative Duties: Sell a variety of gases and hard-goods to customers. Assist customers in selecting and recommending the proper gases/tools to complete their project and process the transaction. Stock and track inventory.


ESSENTIALS:
• Make deliveries in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Perform any non-scheduled delivery necessary to provide customers with products.
• Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections and ensure all safety items are in good working order.
• Safely load/unload and deliver hard-good orders as well as cylinders containing compressed gases; return empty cylinders to plant for refilling.
• Maintain load manifests and all other vehicle documents, ensuring they are properly completed and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries.
• Maintain appropriate drivers' license and endorsements.
• Assure that the assigned truck/trailer is always properly placarded and loaded to meet DOT regulations.
• Exchange customers' cylinders.
• Safely prep and fill high pressure and liquid cylinders.
• Monitor status of customer owned cylinders brought in for filling or hydro-test purposes.
• Communicate in person with customers, inquiring about and providing information on cost, ordering and delivery times.
• Maintain a high level of customer service by assisting customers with will-call, counter and telephone sales.
• Analyze & expedite customer orders in a timely manner.
• Notify customers when orders are ready for pick-up.
• Enter sales data, quotes or other information into computer; researches information for customers using the computer system.
• Accurately complete all daily, weekly, monthly paperwork on a timely basis.
• Assist manager in ordering appropriate merchandise to ensure stock remains at an acceptable level.
• Restock store merchandise and maintain current pricing on all store displays and products.
• Maintain and upgrade industry product knowledge and company branch standards and procedures
• Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
• Maintain neat and presentable store through good housekeeping.
• Must be able to work designated or voluntary overtime, when necessary and rotating Saturdays on-call.
• Must be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from 10 to over 110 degrees.
• Adhere to all company policies and safety procedures and guidelines.
• Attend company safety meetings.
• Ensure proper and full time use of PPE.
• Report any accident or injury is promptly to supervisor.
• DOT pre-employment and random drug testing applies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Possess a valid Class B driver's license with Hazmat endorsement.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) year related experience in retail sales or customer service.
• Minimum one (1) year previous commercial driving experience and clean/safe driving record, no at-fault accidents or serious moving violations within the past three (3) years
• Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations for commercial drivers.
• Must meet all physical qualification standards imposed by regulation for drivers
• Minimum one (1) year previous cylinder filling experience
• Minimum of one (1) year previous experience with handling medical gases
• Previous knowledge of welding and industrial supplies is preferred.
• Previous experience or knowledge of computer order entry system desired.
• Must have good math skills.
• Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, safety rules, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, material safety data sheets (MSDS), and governmental regulations.
• Knowledge of local roadway and highway system.
• Must be able to read street maps and directions.
• Team player attitude with ability to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
• Ability to perform prolonged standing up to 8 hours; repetitive motion also required.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 - 50 lbs, and occasionally lift 51 - 80 lbs.
• Prior forklift driving experience a plus.
• Frequent bending also required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) language skills highly desired.
• Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
• No relocation assistance offered.

While performing the duties of this job the associate is regularly required to stand, sit while making driving and making deliveries; use hands to finger, handle, grip, or feel; push, pull and reach with hands, arms while moving cylinders; walk, talk to and hear customers/co-workers as well as smell/hear leaking gas from cylinders. The associate will constantly lift up to 50 lbs and move more than 100 lbs with the aid of material handling equipment. The associate will occasionally be required to stand, bend, climb, or balance. Specific visions abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision
