Auto Inspector-Katonah/Brewster

Primary Responsibilities

Responsible for performing accurate and timely inspections of Off-Lease vehicles and reporting of same; while acting as the liaison between SGS’s customers and their customers.

Inspector Supervisor
Specific responsibilities
•Ensures the highest level of service and compliance with contractual obligations, customer needs adhering to Company policies and procedures, through inspection and reporting of Off-Lease vehicles.
•Observe and identify all abnormalities / damages in vehicles (undercarriage area, scratches, gouges, dents, dings, differentiation of color classification, inspection of engine compartment, cargo area, truck, spare tire, and any other signs of previous damage to the vehicle).
•Ensure accuracy of data information regarding the vehicle through entry of a hand held computer device.
•Communicate problems, discrepancies, and other operational issues to Supervisor within required timeframe.
•Inspects and maintains all assigned equipment to ensure that it is in good working order and reports any malfunctions immediately.
•Develop and comply full understanding of all company procedures for Safety, Field Operation and reporting.
•Develop and comply full understanding of individual client instructions and requirements.
Profile
•High School Diploma required;
Minimum of 1 year of training and/or experience in body repair cost estimating for a registered repair shop or 1 year of training and/or experience in adjusting body repair claims for an insurance company or independent adjuster is required. A degree in automotive technology from an accredited college or university or vocational school and 6 months experience in body repair cost estimating for a registered repair shop can substitute for the required experience.
•Possession of a valid (non-incident) driver’s license.
•Must have own reliable transportation for daily travel (a condition of employment).
•Must have personal auto liability insurance with minimum liability coverage of $ 250,000 - 500,000 - 250,000.
•Position requires occasional overnight travel.

•Requires a dependable and reliable individual; whose daily presence adds to the success of the Department.
•Ability to work effectively under pressure, without supervision while meeting established deadlines.
•Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
•Ability to observe and identify abnormalities / damage in vehicles (undercarriage area, scratches, gouges, dents, dings, differentiation of color classification, inspection of engine compartment, cargo area, truck, spare tire)
•Ability to conduct inspections during adverse conditions (weather, heat, cold, etc.).

oAll required licenses must be maintained in an active status without suspension or revocation throughout employment.
