starting is usually 9.00 hr, tops out around 15.00-18.00 but depends on experience. You can work from home but getting a job with a good company is rare.
I think It's a boring job usually just sitting in an office with a computer looking at medical codes and numbers.
There are other things that require a little more schooling and make more money. Medical field is a good field to get into.
Nursing degree is lots of school but you'd make enough to pay for more than just the baby sitter or day care. If you decide to go with nursing you could work 3 days a week and make more than you would working 5 days of medical billing and would have extra time with your kids. Some places require you work 12hour work days but then you get more days off during the week.

Great career choice. More coders are working at home than ever before. Salary depends on experience and certification around $12 to $25 an hour.
