What to wear for a job interview as a receptionist?
Asked by the sweetest thing ♥
I am going to have a job interview on Saturday to be a receptionist in a dance school for girls. I don't know what to wear. Can anyone give me any ideas on what is appropriate to wear to a interview?

As a potential receptionist, you are the first image of the company to a visitor. As such, you want to look polished and professional, unless you know that this is not welcome at this location. Most likely you should wear a business suit, or slacks and blazer with a shell or button front blouse. Make sure your nails are clean and neat. Not too long. Don't wear anything that will detract from the image that the company wants to present to it's visitors. Practice walking in front of a mirror, watching your facial expressions and eye contact. Do you look professional and project a positive and polished image? If so, couple that with a good solid resume and an image showing you are capable of handling whatever will come your way on the job, and you will do well.

No jeans. No flip flops. Nothing revealing. Wear either some khakis and a button up dress shirt or dress pants and a button up shirt.

For the interview, you want to look polished and professional. A suit is never a bad choice. But certainly ask how you would be expected to dress day-to-day at the job. Do they want you to wear dance clothes? Business casual? At the end of the interview, they'll for sure give you an opportunity to ask questions. What a great one to ask!

People generally advise you to dress up at least two levels higher than the current job for which you are appearing. It will create a good first impression. For professional and senior management positions, a suit, with a tie and dress shoes is quite suitable. For women, a formal pant suit will be very apt. Women should wear only minimal and simple jewelry. Women candidates should opt for only moderate heeled shoes. For clerical positions interviews, it is reasonable to wear long sleeved shirt with a collar, and nice pair of dress pants. Formal hard soled shoes will be fine. Women can wear casual pants with a sweater or blouse, with moderate heeled shoes. The general rule is to opt for conservative shades and designs. Bright checked shirts, loud colored blouses, and odd designed dresses are not to be worn at all. You have to ensure that the set of dress you have decided to wear for your interview is sparklingly fresh and without any crease marks whatsoever. Also ensure that the shirt is buttoned up fully when attending the interview.
