What else could you do when you're a qualified Mechanic?

My father is 40 and is experiencing hip problems. He is a mechanic, but wants to have a completely different job without alot of training. He can't go to university- but he's happy to do night courses and go to college. He is earning about £30k at the moment and his job needs to be around that. Could you think of anything else he could do? Maybe teach Mechanic courses?

He could be a service writer. At least, that is what they people are called in the US who take the write up from the mechanic and sell it to the customer. You have to know what you are talking about to do that.. Car sales man? Maybe work the counter at an auto parts store.
